Myanmar Project
Yangon orphanage

We funded the building of new state of the start accommodation facilities at the orphanage to ensure the children had more space and comfort as they sought to rebuild their lives. A girls-only dormitory was also constructed to ensure safe spaces for all. We are also funding nutritional programmes, ensuring the children have access to the food and drink they need.
Further to this initial investment which was designed to ensure the children were well fed and rested we then moved to stage 2 of our programme which shows what is at the heart of the Echo ethos.

Using a highly innovative approach, we created a suite of online classrooms and linked these to the highly respected Wimbledon High School in London. With this approach we were able to offer bespoke English lessons to over 200 students on a weekly basis with a unique approach to teaching.
We trained a number of WHS students who were still at school in London as English teachers and as a result, students at Wimbledon High School were enabled to deliver the vast majority of the teaching to the students in the orphanage. To the best of our knowledge, this approach of twinning students in the UK with students in Myanmar is completely unique.
